1>Alter Bridge - BlackBird (2007) -
Watch their video - "Rise Today" on http://www.alterbridge.com/.....really Good!!I am listening to this album right now and believe me, those hard hitting guitar notes and real lyrics have made me remember why I like Alter Bridge so much and how painful the wait for their second album has been. I was a fan of CREED and after they split discovered how amazing Alter Bridge is. Mark Tremonti will always remain one of my favorite guitarists (someone I used to try and emulate with an old acoustic guitar in a locked room with the volume real high ha ha)
This album has a fresh feel to it while retaining all the elements of that original sound that I love so much
Some history for you - The evolution of Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall as artists is marked with the debut of Alter Bridge. The shared vision of the band seemed to coincide with a concept from Tremonti's youth, and the name 'Alter Bridge' was born. The name comes from a long-standing bridge near Tremonti's childhood home in Detroit, which was often regarded as a boundary to the children in surrounding neighborhoods; beyond it was uncharted territory.
This band displays a respect for the roots of where rock came from. The lineage for the material ultimately draws its closest connection to the Seventies. Given the history that Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall have together, there is obviously a natural continuity that still exists between Creed and Alter Bridge, yet there are new and significant dynamics in Alter Bridge's music that can definitely be pointed to.
Listen to this if you like rock music.2> Athlete - Beyond the Neighborhood (2007) -
This album released UK September 3rd 2007 and due to be released in the U.S.A. on September 25th 2007. Athlete is an indie rock band formed in Deptford, London, comprising Joel Pott [lead vocals and guitar], Carey Willetts [bass and backing vocals], Stephen Roberts [drums and backing vocals] and Tim Wanstall [keyboards and backing vocals]. Recently, the quartet has recruited Jonny Pilcher as a live guitarist. Friends since the age of fourteen, Athlete took their wide ranging influences such as Grandaddy and The Flaming Lips and started jamming and practicing in the basement of The Bear, a pub which was converted into a church and sandwich bar, on Deptford High Street in 1999. They began recording there, before sending demos out. Signing with Regal Recordings, they released their first single in February 2002. The band came to prominence in 2003 with their debut album, 'Vehicles And Animals', producing popular singles such as 'You Got the Style' and 'El Salvador'. The album earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination and went on to sell over 250,000 copies. Their second album, 'Tourist', reached No.1 in the UK Album Charts in its first week, following the huge success of single 'Wires', which, in 2006, won them the Ivor Novello Award for "Best Contemporary Song".
They have a nice “easy on the ears” kinda sound which you’ll fall in love with instantly. Their music makes me daydream – very relaxing.
